Paleo Shamrock Shake

If you love celebrating St. Patrick's Day but want to end a meal with a healthier treat, you'll find that this paleo shamrock shake will taste just grand!

The ingredients are simple--unsweetened almond milk, frozen bananas, vanilla extract or powder, maple syrup, and peppermint extract. If you prefer your shake to be green, you can add spinach as a natural dye. It only takes a small handful to make your shake a nice shade of green.

Additionally, refined sugar dairy free free chocolate chips are optional. If you include the chocolate in your paleo shamrock shake, blend all the previous ingredients first. Then add the chocolate chips and blend until it is chopped in small pieces.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk homemade or store bought
  • 1 cup frozen bananas, sliced
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract or powder
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup fresh spinach loosely packed
  • 1/8 tsp peppermint extract
  • 1 tbsp refined sugar & dairy free chocolate chips optional

Instructions
 

  • Slice a cups worth of bananas and place in the freezer the night before making the shamrock shake.
  • Add 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk to a blender. Then add frozen bananas, vanilla extract or powder, maple syrup, spinach, and peppermint extract. Blend until smooth.
    (If your blender is struggling to blend, let sit for a few minutes until bananas are softer.)
  • If refined sugar free chocolate chips are desired, add and blend until the chocolate chips are finely chopped. Pour into a glass and enjoy.

Notes

Nutritional information is approximate and includes the chocolate chips.
More spinach can be added to make the shake greener. Be careful not to add too much spinach as it can make the shake more bitter.
