Garlic Green Beans
Boost your meal by adding a side of green beans with a punch of garlic flavor!
Increasing Flavor
Cooked green beans with a pinch of salt is a favorite of mine. But if you want to step up the flavor, try green beans sautéed in a little olive oil and garlic. It just takes a couple minutes to add that delicious garlic flavor.
How to Cook Garlic Green Beans
Blanch first. Blanching the green beans first gives just the right texture. They aren't too crunchy and aren't too soft. Blanching is a quick process involving a few simple steps.
Boil water in a large pot. When the water is at a rolling boil, add beans and turn down heat to medium high. Boil for 3 minutes. In the meantime, put cold water and ice into a large bowl. After the 3 minutes, drain and immediately immerse in the bowl of cold water. Drain again when the beans have cooled.
Sauté second. Now that the blanching is complete, the final step is to sauté with a little bit of garlic, olive oil, and salt for about 3-4 minutes.
Plate green beans and add almond slices, almond slivers, or crushed walnuts. Enjoy!
